WHAT IS AN EPK AND WHY DO YOU NEED ONE?

The EPK (Electronic Press Kit) is like your professional cover letter. If you're looking for press, collaborations, live dates or just starting out in the industry in earnest, you need one. It doesn't matter if you're just starting out or already have releases under your belt: a good EPK tidies up your project, builds confidence and opens doors.

What is an EPK?

A Electronic Press Kit is a digital document that gathers all the key information about you as an artist: who you are, what you do, how you sound and what you have achieved. It is designed for media, promoters, programmers, labels, agencies or any professional who wants to get to know you quickly and straightforwardly.

What should a complete EPK include?

  1. Artistic biography
Clear, direct and up-to-date. No clichés. It talks about your sound, your identity, your journey and where you are going.
  2. Official photos
At least 2 or 3 in good quality (vertical and horizontal). Take care of the aesthetics: they should reflect your visual universe.
  3. Featured music
Links to your best tracks, videoclips or sessions. Don't put your entire catalogue: select the most representative.
  4. Press or achievements
If you've been mentioned in the media, played at festivals or have featured numbers, include it. But don't overdo it.
  5. Technical data (if applicable)
Live format, basic technical needs, usual equipment or availability for bookings.
  6. Links and contact
All your networks, channels and, above all, a clear way to contact you or your team.

How do you present yourself?

  • PDF format with graphic design (can be done in Canva or Figma)
  • Web link or tidy Google Drive folder
  • Also on videoEPKs in short audiovisual format (1-2 min) with voice-over, images and music.

Important: It should not be too heavy or have broken links. Remember that the recipient has little time.

When to use it?

  • When submitting your project to festivals, cycles, venues or the media
  • When contacting brands or potential partners
  • When concluding agreements with agencies, distributors or publishers
  • Even in strategic meetings, to show your professionalism.

Conclusion

Having a good EPK is about showing that you are serious about your career. It's not about impressing with smoke and mirrors, it's about making it clear who you are and what you have to offer. In an environment where you receive a lot of content on a daily basis, being clear, direct and professional can get you heard. And that often changes everything.
